Hello,
Just thought I'd share this with anybody whose interested. As I have just spent 9 months helping install and setup an Edubuntu system and learning about Linux I thought it was about time to do a backup of the Server !!
Backing up of the users data such as email and working directories is hopefully going to be left to an automatic daily network based service provided by Richard Rothwell at http://www.m6-it.org/
However backup of the server installation is left to me. I decided to use Mondorescue as this programme was being used by our previous IT administrator. Unfortunately our new Server doesn't have a CD Burner, USB or large hard disks so I decided to try out creating the server images on a standalone Ubuntu machine on the network which has a big hardrive and CD Burner (for taking the images off site).
The web link below contains quick rough and ready instructions on how to setup the NFS and then how to run Mondoarchive to create the rescue disks including a test of the procedure on a subset of directories.

Using these ISO images should enable a complete restore in less than half a day I would say. Haven't had to try them out yet but I think I will sleep better knowing they are there in case of need!
