Did you install Sabayon (users profiles manager) ?

When Sabayon is on, only users with a Sabayon profile can log in (if
it's not a bug, it's very close to ;).

In a client terminal (ctrl-alt-f1) the error is "unable to get a profile
(eg a Sabayon's one).
