Enabling LDM_DIRECTX=True For Faster Sessions on Gutsy Server

Aloha

On Edubuntu Gutsy LTSP server, is the only step to deactivate ssh (once 
authenticated) to add

LDM_DIRECTX=True

to /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf


or do I also need the patched ldm as I see at places like here (1)?

I don't see the variable referenced here(2).
