My idea for that problem is:

In Germany we usually have a class teacher you leads the class for
years. So I would create a group for this teacher (teachers_name).

Then I would create 10 user accounts: teachers_name_01,
teachers_name_02, teachers_name_03,...

This accounts you assign to the group teachers_name.

Now you create a directory where the group teachers_name can read and
write. In every home directory of the users you create a link called
documents which shows to this directory.

The advantages:
- The children/classes are assigned to the teacher and not to the grade.
So in summer you don't need to change names of user accounts.

- Firefox and OpenOffice work on every account

- If a child saves a document, it has easy access to the directory of
the class. The next time the child opens the document it does not
matter, if it is locked in as teachers_name_01 or teachers_name_02.

The disadvantage:
- Bookmarks, history, pick lists, high scores... are assigned to the
account
