Well, it seems to work now. With original Ubuntu 8.04 it did not.

I have to tell xorg.conf to the mobo.
[00:22:15:15:4B:4C]
X_CONF = /etc/X11/asus-eee-xorg.conf
[00:1C:C0:47:E2:C0]
X_CONF = /etc/X11/xorg.conf
But there is nothing special on that xorg.conf? Without it I got
automatically 1600x1200 for 20" LCD (native is 1680x1050).
This feels slower than Asus Eee PC?
Anyway, it works perfect (resolution, sound and USB-stick):

Have a small LTSP Ubuntu (8.04) system at work. Was working on Friday
when we left. Over the weekend, I apt-get update via ssh from home and
this morning we are seeing BusyBox (initramfs) prompts on our clients.
Keyboard and monitor (on server) allows , but clients see only BusyBox
prompts.
I am searching forums now, but need to get fixed today. Any suggestion
regarding what is wrong?

I'm setting up a new lab from scratch, using ubuntu 8.04.
I have about 30 pc in the lab and in the classrooms.
I want every user (about 100) have his own login and home.
In the old lab I set up things in a veeeery awkward way (little or no
time at disposition) with NFS (always working, no problems at all) and
simply copying /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /etc/group in every pc.
Non I've got some time to spend and I want to do it the right way.
NFS server seems to me the simplest way.
I need some advice regarding centralized authentication.
It seems to me that ldap is a bit complicated to set up, and has
features I really don't need: all I want is a server giving everyone a
login-password-home and nothing else.
Are there any alternatives?
TIA
Antonello
