Here in Finland we have that Nokia/N8xx/ARM/Maemo -thing, I have one, too.
asmok at ubuntu:~$ ssh root at 192.168.1.106
Nokia-N800-23-14:~# uname -a
Linux Nokia-N800-23-14 2.6.21-omap1 #2 Tue Oct 14 11:25:25 EEST 2008
armv6l unknown
Nokia-N800-23-14:~# cat /etc/issue
Internet Tablet OS: maemo Linux based OS2008 \n \l
My N800 is powerful and nice to use multimedia device.
So ARM-based laptops can be very attractive in school environment, too.
But a review says:
"A level of Adobe Flash was working so Youtube worked, but without the
video acceleration it was not as smooth as it can be. Drivers should be
here in the next two weeks … I will just have to wait."
I think something like Intel Atom + AMD Ion can be very good next
generation's DIY thin client - if it is good enough to work as a high
end MythTV frontend, then why not as a thin client - cheap and fanless?
