anyone else notice long log in times on lucid?

To answer my own question (perhaps) I noticed that lucid had added a
kerberos auth entry to /etc/pam.d/common-password

removing kerberos as an auth method using the ncurses based tool
pam-auth-update

seemed to speed login's up considerably.
