Error messages are needed. This does not sound like an LTSP issue to me. I know nothing about kde, so this may be completely wrong. It sounds like a permissions issue to me - perhaps at the home directory level?
Perhaps test by copying over the .kde folder to a test user and then...
sudo chmod -R 777 /home/testusername
Obviously, this is just for testing purposes.
