ltsp-pnp DNS problem

Hello everybody,
We have set up ltsp-pnp (via the greek schools ppa) on 12.04 LTS 32
bit as per the instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuLTSP/ltsp-pnp
The client side image boots up but does not resolve URLs in Firefox.
On the server, the build has port=0 on
/etc/dnsmasq.d/ltsp-server-dnsmasq.conf . dnsmasq has no problems
running on the server and it resolves URLs correctly.
The client boots via the server, and gets its DHCP from the university
network. When the client boots up, it does not get a DNS. There's
nothing in /etc/resolv.conf NetworkManager on the client says Wired
connection is not managed.
I've tried all kinds of combinations of commenting the "port=0" on the
server, on the client, etc. but to no avail.
What works is to add nameserver to /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base
(http://www.stgraber.org/2012/02/24/dns-in-ubuntu-12-04/) but I'm not
sure if this is the right way to do it.
Other than that, the system works fairly well. There were some
problems with building the image to use Unity, so we are using hte
gnome-session-fallback for now.
cheers,
Sameer
