firefox-final.desktop is no longer part of a supported Ubuntu release,
and the larger issue of desktop overwriting was fixed in app-install-
data-ubuntu 0.11.10.2. Thanks for the report, sorry for the slow
response.

Status in “app-install-data-ubuntu” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Ths firefox-final.desktop file is missing, therefore Firefox is not
  present in the software-center with the same desktop file as in the
  menu.

  There is a firefox.desktop file, but this contains the kubuntu-
  firefox-installer package. The problem is that this file has the same
  name, and overwrote the original file:
