Thank you for taking the time to improve Ubuntu. Are you using
NetworkManager to establish the internet connection, or do you use
something else to establish it?

  I am not able to run update manager, it says check your internet
  connection, but Synaptic manager and web browser works with out any
  problem I am using Ubuntu 11.04
