Title:
authentication failure if starting update applet

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The update manager tells me that there are new updates. But after
  authentication nothing happens.

So I have to have a look at the list with the updates, start synaptic,
search for the package, mark it and update it with synaptic.

  Ubuntu 8.04 (hardy)

This happens after the change that I have to use the root password
(sudo password is not sufficient anymore)
