Title:
apt-get upgrade fails on samba-common if smb.conf is missing

Status in “samba” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged
Status in “samba” package in Debian:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: samba

after launching update-manager, samba-common failed with statuscode 1
--all further dependencies failed to install.

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade showed the same behaviour.

the file /etc/samba/smb.conf had been moved (by me, during some tests)
  to /etc/samba/smb.conf.backup.

After restoring the smb.conf file to its original name, apt-get
upgrade was able to upgrade samba-common and all of its dependencies.
