[Bug 821118] Re: oneiric installer does not support english language in Germany

It's sort of annoying. First the installer tells you that you cannot
choose the english language for a german location, but then it warns you
about your (enforced) choice of german language since the translation is
odd and incomplete. And indeed, once you have chosen (because there's no
option) german, you get a strange mixture of german and english.

Why not leave it as it was?

Title:
oneiric installer does not support english language in Germany

Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I just started to install oneiric alpha2 onto a notebook for some
tests, using the alternate-32bit iso image copied onto a USB stick.

Usually I choose the english language but the locale for
Germany/Berlin, since I need the german keyboard and time settings,
but prefer english language due to the often odd translations (e.g.
many programs ask in German for yes/no i.e. for Ja/Nein, but still
accept only y/n). This was working until 11.10, but oneiric denies and
says it has no settings for this pair of language and locale.

English should be supported for every locale.
