Title:
list of obsolete and locally created packages empty

Status in “aptitude” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid
Status in “aptitude” package in Debian:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: aptitude

"aptitude search ~o" confirms that I have packages installed on my
system that are either obsolete or locally created. The ncurses
aptitude GUI on the other hand claims: "--- Obsolete and Locally
  Created Packages (0)"

This is a regression in Jaunty from Hardy (status in Intrepid unknown)

  $  aptitude search ~o|head -n5
  i airsnort - WLAN sniffer
  i A aqbanking16-qt-wizard - setup tool for AqBanking
  i audacious-crossfade - Audacious Plugin for Crossfading / Continu
i bjfilter-2.2 - Filter program to use Canon Pixus 550i/850
  i bugz - command-line interface to Bugzilla

This may or may not be a side-effect of grouping packages as explained
  in bug 122249
