The installer crashed because you had run out of free space:

Dec 11 15:01:47 ubuntu ubiquity: Processing triggers for man-db ...
Dec 11 15:01:48 ubuntu ubiquity: /usr/bin/mandb: can't write to /var/cache/man/23053
Dec 11 15:01:48 ubuntu ubiquity: : No space left on device
Dec 11 15:01:48 ubuntu ubiquity: debconf: DbDriver "templatedb": could not write /var/cache/debconf/templates.dat-new: No space left on device
Dec 11 15:01:48 ubuntu ubiquity: dpkg: error processing man-db (--unpack):

The free space calculation routines have changed considerably since
maverick so it would be helpful if you were to try installing again with
the 11.04 release of Ubuntu. Thanks in advance!

** Changed in: ubiquity (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
  Installation Crashes

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

Downloaded 10.10 from the site, created from CD and installed from
that. Wanted to run it in conjunction ith Windows as I wanted to get
an idea of whether I wanted to move across permanently.

Installation crashed after it had done the additional download, at,
what looked like the end of the installation. I have attached the two
  files as requested.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the exact error, but let me
know if you need more info and I'll play closer attention during the
installation process (it was exceptionally slow and I must admit I got
bored watching a seemingly motionless orange bar...:)).

  Thanks
