OK, I just hit a memtest86+ upgrade error while upgrading from maverick
to natty:
Setting up memtest86+ (4.10-1.1ubuntu1) ...
Generating grub.cfg ...
loop: can't get info on device /dev/loop0: No such device or address
/usr/sbin/grub-probe: error: unknown filesystem.
dpkg: error processing memtest86+ (--configure):
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
No apport report written because MaxReports is reached already
Later, the same error about /dev/loop0 borks the grub install on this command:
/usr/sbin/grub-probe --device-map="/boot/grub/device.map" --target=fs -v /boot/grub
My /boot/config-2.6.35-30-generic contains "CONFIG_BLK_DEV_LOOP=y"
I worked around the /dev/loop0 error by mounting a loopback filesystem
while running grub-probe.
Earlier, I had mounted a loopback fs but had it unmounted before the
upgrade process.
Hope this helps.
