Upgrading to 11.10 fails on HP EliteBook 8540w

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
After doing: update-manager -d, I went through the process of
downloading the 11.10 upgrade packages. But when it was time to
  install these, I see:

The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Please help. Let me know what logs I can provide.
