Title:
Edubuntu's LTSP ldm greeter is properly translated but the user
  session always starts in english

Status in “edubuntu-live” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Committed
Status in “ltsp” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The lts.conf file generated for LTSP live and for LTSP with Edubuntu sets LANG and LANGUAGE so that ldm is properly translated.
Sadly this also tells ldm to open the session in en_US.UTF-8 instead of using the same locale as the target system.

The easiest way of fixing this is to also set LDM_LANGUAGE to have the
same locale as LANGUAGE (forcing it to ignore LANG).

This affects LTSP live (ltsp source package) and Edubuntu's LTSP
  (edubuntu-live's source package).
