[Bug 876363] [NEW] Ubu10.11 installer from CD crashes during installation

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The hard disk utility shows as grub loader error ( a red:  "/" ) on my
internal HDD.  Both 'erase first' and 'alongside' installations from a
downloaded/burned CD-R (Ubuntu 11.10) failed.  The pop up window reports
that ". . . the installer crashed during installation"

please help . . . a dead computer is no fun
