[Bug 899648] Re: Update manager does not install downloaded updates

After running the commands in #4 and having received this output amoung
other:

The following packages have been kept back:
  glib-networking ia32-libs
The following packages will be upgraded:
  libsmpeg0 libsoundtouch0 libsqlite0 synaptic
4 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 2 not upgraded.
Need to get 2,483 kB of archives.
After this operation, 678 kB disk space will be freed.

I got a message from update notifier that I have 3 updates available (as
before), I selected show updates and then install updates, after about a
minute got the same screen and no updates installed, I cicked on install
updates again, I had to wait about 5 minutes and got same error as
before.

  Update manager does not install downloaded updates

Bug description:
  I get a message by update notifier that I have 3 updates to install (screenshot-1), I select show updates, then click on install updates, the first time after about a minute I get the same window of update manager with the same updates to install but it hasen't updated them, I re-click on install updates, I have to wait about 5-6 minutes to get an error message (screenshot-3).
  I rebooted my pc but the problem is still there.
  Before this happening got crash see bug #899633.
