Is not a bug, it was just a bad PPA. Seems like its not maintained
anymore. Well that particular link. For example, if you try to go
here:
http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu/dists/oneiric/main
/binary-amd64/Packages
You will see an error because the page, and PPA, does not exist anymore.
Well thanks for reporting this and feel free to report any other issues you may find. Closing.

Title:
Entries that are deleted from the Other software list just reappear.
Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Invalid
Bug description:
When running 'check for updates' in the Update Manager it objects to
two PPA entries for Pidgin in the 'other software' list. If I try
deleting these the deletion lasts while Update Manager is open, but
when closed and re-opened these entries re-appear.
I have a perhaps related problem with adding software reviews in the
Software Centre. I can post reviews but once posted I cannot edit
them.
