Title:
pam-auth-update: Use of uninitialized value $fieldname

Status in “pam” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
This is on Ubuntu 11.10 with libpam-runtime 1.1.3-2ubuntu2.1.

  What happened :

While working on a PAM module packaging, I felt the need to try and
add some comments to my packages file in /usr/share/pam-configs/. Of
course, it turns out there is no such thing as comments in those
files, but my attempt of one was not handled very gracefully :

    # pam-auth-update
Use of uninitialized value $fieldname in hash element at /usr/sbin/pam-auth-update line 688, <PROFILE> line 1.
Use of uninitialized value $fieldname in hash element at /usr/sbin/pam-auth-update line 689, <PROFILE> line 1.
    # cat /usr/share/pam-configs/yubikey
    # test comment
Name: YubiKey two-factor authentication with online validation (recommended)
    ...

What I would have expected :

Wouldn't it be reasonable for badly formatted profiles to be
  ignored/rejected?

  Thanks.

  /Fredrik
