Sorry that the report stayed unattended for a long time. In any case
current versions of upgrade-manager warn about disabling all third-party
repositories during update. Please feel free to reopen the but (by
marking it as "new" ) if you believe this is still an issue with
currently supported versions of Ubuntu.
** Package changed: update-manager-core (Ubuntu) => update-manager
(Ubuntu)
** Changed in: software-properties (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
** Changed in: update-manager (Ubuntu)

Bug description:
Binary package hint: software-properties-gtk
I was researching vmware-server update issue when I noted that the
third-party software list entries referred to feisty in the
distribution field. This was the version that I originally installed.
subsequently I upgraded to gutsy and now hardy.
I examined a fresh install of hardy on a virtual machine and see the
more expected references to hardy and the new term partner.
