Title:
  do-release-upgrade expects you to type yes, no or details when
  LANG=en_AU.UTF-8

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager-core

  When I upgrade a system from Gutsy to hardy using do-release-upgrade
  it works fine but when it asks "Do you want to start the upgrade?" the
  prompt is "Continue [yN] Details [d]" The expected respons would
  therefor be y, n or d but it will only work when you type the full
  yes, no or details. You would also expect that if you hit enter it
  would exit and it does not do this.

  Having traced through the code it look like the problem is in
  DistUpgradeViewText.py line 173. It is comparing, for instance _("y")
  with the text entered but it looks like the y is converted to "yes"
  when LANG=en_AU.UTF-8. it could be that the .mo file is incorrect or
  maybe the code.
