[Bug 905377] [NEW] Update Manager suggested sending in bug report -"Could not initialize the package information"

E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

Ubuntu release
~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:	Ubuntu 10.10
Release:	10.10

Package version
~$ apt-cache policy package-manager
Segmentation fault

Ubuntu - bug didn't work; gave further error
Could not open location 'file:///home/john/ubunter%20-bug'
error stating file '/home/john/ubuntu -
bug': No such file or directory
