[Bug 805294] [NEW] Too small partition not detected during upgrade - caused failed installation

Public bug reported:

I was upgrading UBUNTU 9.x to 11.x (latest download)  when the
installation failed. Ran out of diskspace because the partition was too
small for 11.x

A suggestion to increase partition before trying to upgrade could have prevented this?
