I've noticed that also this doesn't happen with 3D only 2D, so might be
some involvement of that package

Bug description:
  After installing Oneiric from the Live CD image, the 'Install RELEASE'
  icon usually seen on the Live desktop is still on the launcher.
  Looking in /usr/share/applications shows that ubiquity-gtkui.desktop
  is still present.
