Title:
[Intel] when modeset on, X happens to detect wrong resolution

Status in “plymouth” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  lspci says:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)

Plymouth is always broken, when booting Kubuntu Natty on Toshiba Satellite U400 (1280x800 13.3' screen). Then kdm runs, most times correctly, but it happens to detect wrong resolution and run with 1024x768 which means two black stripes on sides of screen.
I figured, that setting modeset=0 (in /etc/modprobe.d/) most probably solved the problem but it's not really a solution since one wants to have kms working.
