Thank you for the feedback.

Indeed renaming lvm volume names of root needs adjustment for bootloader
and /etc/fstab.

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: initramfs-tools

  I installed Ubuntu 11.4, logged in, updated software (because of
  security fixes), did not reboot (no reboot was needed), and then
  installed the KDE desktop environment. When I installed the KDE
  desktop environment (by installing the kubuntu-desktop package), there
  was this problem with initramfs (see the summary).
