I am using Ubuntu 11.04 and I am not affected by this bug anymore on that version.
I don't know about the other versions of Ubuntu.
Feel free to close this report unless you want to test and fix it in 10.04 LTS.

Bug description:
  I am particularly affected by https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=457990 in an application I am developing.
  I don't know if it affects other applications in Lucid.
  Though updating seems like a good idea since that release only fixes bugs.
