Title:
Install GRUB into a newly created partition

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: ubiquity

Before installing Ubuntu 10.04 I had 3 primary partitions, and thus
needed to install an extended and put a swap and a root partition in
  the extended.

However, as I could not overwrite the mbr of /dev/sda I had to install
the mbr in a newly created partition (one of the extended ones). When
I pressed advanced I could see all the partitions, but the two new
ones I could only select and not press ok. If I selected one that
existed prior to the install (i.e. one that was not created after I
pressed ok), I could select ok.

  Solution:
I quitted the install, used fdisk from a terminal to partition /dev/sda, re-ran the installer and now it worked.

Logically I would have expected to be able to press ok, instead of
having to do it the manual way.
