Have a related issue with install CD v11.04.
Near the beginning of the install process - the screen resolution and sync rate changes.
Unfortunately, my old Samsung 950p CRT has ceiling on the resolution and sync rates.
So when the install gets to this point - the CRT flashes back "sync rate not supported",
so I have to abort the install - since nothing is visible on the monitor.
When I step back to CD v10.04 - Installation proceeds without issue.

Title:
LiveCD graphical issues on native monitor resolution

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Current Live CDs (I have looked back all the way to Karmic) display severe graphical errors on my computer; this is an HP Pavillion DV6636NR with a GeForce 7150M/nForce 630M video card. When booting with the LiveCD, the CD correctly recognizes that the monitor's native resolution is 1280x800 and uses that; this leaves the computer almost unusable. I have no problems finding my way to comfigure the monitor for 1024x768 resolution, at which point everything works perfectly. Here is a screenshot taken with my cell phone:

This screenshot shows the System->Preferences->Monitors applet, as well as the Applications->Accessories menu. It is low-res enough to not show the interlace-like effect by which only the odd lines are drawn, but it is the best camera I have available.

This problem is restricted to the LiveCD -- installing any of those
versions (Karmic to Natty) results in normal, uncorrupted graphics.
