Title:
no update message ("10.04 LTS available")

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

Update notification doesn't appear at the top of the update-manager
window (Ubuntu 9.10), even after having all the updates for the
  current release applied and checked.

  Solution:
Change preferences of the "Software sources", in the "Updates" tab from "LTS Releases" to "Normal Releases" (paradox, but worked for me), even though 10.04 IS an LTS-release.
