Ok, I have tested this out on my test-system. Got the "Not enough free space" error window both times. Even after clearing some space and proceeding with the upgrade again. Everything seems to be working fine in that regard. You may have had a localized error, not an actual bug with the operating system or update-manager. I am going to close this report. Feel free to report any other bugs you many find though. Thanks.

Title:
  update-manager distribution upgrade fails 10.10 > 11.04 beta 1

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

I'm new to Linux/Ubuntu so please excuse me for my ignorance.

During the distribution upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04 beta1 I got
messages that certain packages could not be installed, mostly
dependency problems or "package already installed". Before upgrading I
also had problem during normal package updates. I had to close the
messages like 30 times and of course the system is not in a working
state. The upgrade stopped and tried to restore the 10.10 dist.

If more info is needed please let me know. Hope this helps somehow.
