Changing from ubiquity to linux, since this bug is a kernel panic, which
sometimes occurs when installing and sometimes not, and which occurs on
both regular and Wubi Ubuntu systems (the latter of which are ubiquity-
free).
Also marking Incomplete for now, pursuant to some requests for
information in
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+question/161214.
Once the problem is clearer, assuming Scott Price is willing to assist
with this bug, and then I (or he) can mark it back to New (after apport-
collect). Unless this is a duplicate of a better-documented bug, it is
unlikely that a developer can work on this bug, based only on the
information already provided.
** Package changed: ubiquity (Ubuntu) => linux (Ubuntu)
** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Incomplete

Title:
Ubiquity crashes and corrupts Windows.
Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Hello. I have an HP quad-core AMD-64 system with 1TB HDD, 8 GB RAM,
Win 7 dual-boot (trying). No matter which method I use, WUBI, Install
to HDD, Live from CD, Live from Stick, Install from stick, Install
from CD: approximately 5 minutes into either install, or session, the
system freezes, then prints out on the screen various errors, which
cannot be printed out because it is frozen. Then after booting into
Windows, the TV-tuner card has to be re-scanned to work again. Then,
after about 20 tries, my boot for Windows corrupted.
The version I'm trying to install is 11.04. My Windows 7 is on its own
partition. All other previous versions have installed and ran fine.
I wrote down what I could from the error list:
Kernel panic not syncing - fatal exception in interrupt
PID:0, comm:kworker/0:1 Tainted G D
2.6.38-8 generic * 42-ubuntu

The driver file for my TV-Tuner is cx23885 (Conexant).
Any suggestions? Thanks.
