I don't think this can be defined as just a Unity problem, as doing the
same search in software center itself also turns up these applications.
But I can confirm this is what happens.

** Package changed: unity (Ubuntu) => software-center (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Confirmed

Title:
  "Search applications" returns non existent applications

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  TEST CASE:
  1. Click on 'Applications' launcher
  2. On the search entry, select 'All applications'
  3. Enter one of the following string "Device Manager", "Default Printer", "Album Shaper", "Alsa Mixer" and probably many others, and it may vary depending on your system.
  4. Click on the application found.

  Result:
  Software-Center is launched and displays a "Not found' message.

  This might be related to bug 799713
