Some questions:

1) Why do you restart your PC? The PC gest frozen after you enter your
password?

2) Is your Internet

2) Have you tried changing the Sofware Source (maybe the repositoy you
have defined is not responding right now). This is done by using the
menu Edit -> Software sources and in the first section "Download from".
