Since I can't replicate your problem, could you run 'apport-collect
801168'? This will give info on what version of software-center you're
using.

Bug description:
  i have tried to search many packages including ones that have
  previously bee downloaded but after clicking search the pinweel just
  continues to spin without showing the results. the internet is
  connected and striving so that is not a factor.
