I have the same problem in Natty. Intel Pentium 4 3GHz, 2GiB RAM
The service uses 99% CPU and the mouse doesn't respond.
Package atp-xapian-index 0.41ubuntu6
I have solve it: sudo aptitude purge apt-xapian-index
