These are likely due to bad installation media:

Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 6.572003] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 325772
Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 6.836004] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE,SUGGEST_OK
Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 6.836004] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Sense Key : Medium Error [current]
Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 6.836004] sr 0:0:0:0: [sr0] Add. Sense: L-EC uncorrectable error

** Changed in: debian-installer (Ubuntu)
       Status: Confirmed => Invalid

Title:
PS3 Alternate Installer: screed of write errors to sr0 on boot

Status in Ubuntu PS3 Port:
  Triaged
Status in “debian-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Using the PS3 alternate installer disk, after typing "install" at the
boot prompt screen clears then the very next thing I see is a "write"
error message referencing /dev/sr0. The message is repeated 10 or more
times over about 5 seconds and honestly looks as if the installer is
broken. However the install does continue fine after this.

These are the messages extracted from syslog post install:

  Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 5.036062] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 1303088
  Oct 24 18:05:36 kernel: [ 5.036214] Buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 325772
