This version detects (hd6) (which is the right thing in the manually
made device.mapper) and claims to successfully install to it, though it
warns about 'flexnet in sector 32'. wish me luck.

  the root device is striped on two mirror devices : so the right drive
  to use is a stripe set (with in this case 64k stripes) - but the bios
  will bring it up... I'm not sure (yet) why grub-probe needs to care.
