Thanks for your report.

Migration assistant imported a lot of stuff from Windows. Even if the migration not completely succeeded that's probably what  filled the partition.

migration assistant should calculate the size of the files to import and
do not proceed if there is not enough space to install the OS. This was
reported in bug 370180
