Title:
update manager gives me an error on 11.04

Status in “update-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: update-manager

Okay every time I try to run the update manager on 11.04 I get an
  error like this one

'E:Encountered a section with no Package: header, E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/us.archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_natty_main_binary-amd64_Packages,
E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

Then I only get the option to close the update manager. This is
keeping me from updating any of my software and get any bug fixes that
the updates might have. Example my web browser asking to be set as the
default browser every time I open the browser with the unity
interface. Now I don't know if a fix for that has come out or not but
  its just an example.
