[Bug 789164] [NEW] Ubuntu 11.04 Install Error

Installer crashed with message to file a new bug report & attach the following files
/var/log/syslog
/var/log/partman:

The install was on a rebuilt PC (AMD Athlon II X2 225 with 2gb ram) using a hard disk (80gb IDE) which had been reformatted and has no other O/S installed. The PC now fails to boot and displays the following:
Error: file not found
Grub rescue>

Please note that I’m completely new to Linux / Ubuntu and thus have no idea how to find and copy the /var/log/syslog or /var/log/partman: files as the PC will not boot.
The attached pictures may help.
Any help would be gratefully received.
