Yes, that was me. I also tried yesterday to contact the Ubuntu release
team via IRC, but did not succeed. I'll try again to reach them, perhaps
by posting to their mailing list or opening another bug report.
I'll inform you as soon as the build is ready.
As for the freeze during installation, I personally experienced it one
time (while testing in a virtual machine), but reinstalling again has
fixed the problem. If you can, could you please download the latest
daily image from <http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily/current/> (note the
date), run it in a virtual machine (like VirtualBox) and see if the
freeze occurs again?
If the mirror bug and/or freezes are still present in the "daily" build
of tomorrow, I will confirm the bug.
Thanks again, especially for your workaround!

Installation failed because it could not find the Mirrorserver
Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I was trying to install Ubuntu 11.10 (it actually says 12.04 LTS /
dont understand why) I got to about 15% of the system install when it
was trying to reach the mirrorserver, (I am connected to internet with
Ethernet cable) and it crashed. Tried it again with the same result.
