Bug description:
   9      user=$(who | awk "/:$displaynum)/ { print \$1; exit }")

  causes a regex compile failure:
  awk: line 1: regular expression compile failed (missing '(')
  :0)

  The line should read:
  9         user=$(who | awk "/:$displaynum/ { print \$1; exit }")
