  ubuntu cant be installed

Status in “ubiquity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  i got hold of my ubuntu 6.06 cd today. i tried to install it after
  booting ubuntu as live. i filled the options for
  language,region,keyboard etc.Then i manually gave 2 partiotions as a
  swap(2.55gb) and root(2.77gb)(the swap partition later was seen as
  linux swap). i formatted it and clicked install. Initially it showed
  installing, but midway it stops and disappears. i tried it more than
  once, but with no use. please help.
