You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Since upgrading from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10, xscreensaver will not unlock
my screen if I am using Kerberos authentication. It worked fine before
the upgrade, and it still works if I am not using Kerberos
authentication. If I am using Kerberos authentication, however, it will
not accept my password, so I have to log in to a console and kill
xscreensaver.
I enabled verbose output for xscreensaver, and I saw an authentication
failure message from PAM in the output. I've tried rebooting and I've
tried reinstalling xscreensaver, but this problem still persists. I can
log in (console, ssh, and graphically [SLiM]), run su, and do everything
else with no authentication problems. It only seems to affect
xscreensaver. I have not modified the xscreensaver PAM configuration.
