  dpkg returns error code 1

Status in “dpkg” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: dpkg

  Just upgraded from 10.04 to 10.10. During the upgrade process a
  problem was reported when it tried to upgrade virtualbox (which
  previously was not in the repos and had to be installed manually).
  However, after everything was said and done I rebooted and everything
  looked fine until I tried to install or upgrade anything. Everytime I
  receive an error similar to this:

  sudo apt-get upgrade

  I have gotten similar errors processing tzdata and man-db. I am also
  unable to remove anything.

  I am attaching my dpkg.log file which goes back before the time of the
  upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10
